A Personalized Journey to High School Readiness

Elementary ClassroomOur simple goal is serve as guide for your child in preparing to meet the challenges of high school and eventually college. This means helping to build a solid theoretical and practical academic foundation, a sense of personal responsibility with task management skills and a strong sense of community.

Granite Bay Montessori maintains high academic standards with proven results. Our students score consistently well on academic evaluation and placement tests. Our graduates are welcomed at the area's finest high schools.

Our curriculum is deep and diversified. In addition to the core subjects, Granite Bay Montessori curriculum covers zoology, botany, history, geography, science, physical education, music, Spanish and sign language. After-school activities extend the curriculum to dance, band, an award winning Science and Technology club and other enjoyable and educational efforts. An academically rich and fun-filled Summer program is offered.

Elementary ClassroomOur program is individually tailored. A low 12:1 student teacher ratio allows teachers to develop a special rapport with each child and a clear understanding individual strengths and developmental areas. The Montessori philosophy encourages accelerated development of strength areas. Age group blending accommodates differences in individual learning pace while removing the social pressure these differences might otherwise cause.

Our classrooms are mini-communities. Each day children learn self-discipline, decision-making, judgment, analytical skills, time management and social expression. Each child is personally responsible for managing his or her work plan. Work teams at tables rather than desks encourage cooperation, compromise and mutual respect. Our environment helps children to develop social skills and long-term friendships and to experience the dynamics of teamwork and leadership.

Education is a cooperative effort among the school, parents and students.  Personal and private communication in encouraged between our teachers and parents.  Frequent events such as Mother's Day Tea and Historical Halloween provide a forum for the children to demonstrate their skills.  An active parent advocacy group meets regularly to identify areas where it might assist Granite Bay Montessori in pursuit of academic readiness for its students.
